A castle for the UN

>> Haus Carstanjen
The representative Haus Carstanjen, which was built in 1892 and which accommodates UN organisations today, is wonderfully located at the banks of the Rhine.
Since June of 1996 to 2006 the Haus Carstanjen, which looks like a little castle, was the headquarters of the UNV, the “Freiwilligen-Organisation der United Nations”, the “Klimarahmenkonvention” (UNFCCC) and the “Wüstenkonvention” (UNCCD), the “United Nations Information Center (UNIC)” and the “Bonner Konventionen zur Erhaltung wandernder wildlebender Tiere (CMS)”.
In 2006 the majority of the organizations moved into the "Lange Eugen" on the UN Campus. Only the climate secretariat continues to have its seat in the Carstanjen House.
